Initial Safe Families-Safe Homes Training a Success!

The first Safe Families-Safe Homes Train the Trainer event was held last week in Albuquerque.  The training was lead by Tracey Cooley, co-author of the Safe Families-Safe Homes curriculum, along with support from Karen Ziegler of New Mexico’s Head Start program.  Advocates from all over New Mexico came to attend the two day training.  Safe Families-Safe Homes provides a curriculum that aims to sensitize those in the early care and education fields to domestic violence issues.  The purpose of the initial training was to educate the advocates on the curriculum, so they could in turn become the educators for advocates in their area of the state.  We succeeded in training several advocates, who formed teams that will be holding their own training events throughout New Mexico.  Look forward to training events to be held in Roswell, Gallup, and Las Cruces.  NMCADV will be providing updates for the upcoming events as soon as they become available.
