The New Mexico Housing Authority has recognized the NMCADV for their contribution and commitment to the statewide community. We are honored to receive the award and appreciate the New Mexico MFA’s acknowledgement of our service. Executive Director Pam Wiseman accepted the award.
Representatives of the MFA had some wonderful remarks acclaiming our efforts:
“The Outstanding Community Partner Award this year honors an organization that supports training, networking, and capacity building across agencies. The 2012 award goes to the New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a non-profit agency based in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
The New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence has experienced some difficult transitions in the past few years, but has emerged as an agency with a renewed commitment to advocacy, training, and a community of care.
The Coalition has 26 member agencies. MFA funds 20 agencies that provide domestic violence and emergency shelter. In the last year, these agencies housed 4,365 adults and children for a total of 103,000 bed nights.
This year, the Coalition has been especially busy. They organized a best practices training that will bring national experts to agencies across the state;
hosted a statewide conference for providers to meet with law enforcement and advocacy groups; and provided support and advice to agencies that are working to build a safe haven for survivors of domestic violence.
The Coalition has also been instrumental in helping MFA plan a database for domestic violence agencies, using its local and national network to locate options that will best serve agencies and their clients.
Thank you, New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence for your commitment to building bridges. The people of New Mexico have been well-served.”
