Job Description:
Children’s Life Skills Facilitator
Department: Supportive Services
Reports to: Volunteer and Supportive Services Coordinator
Supervises: N/A
Status: Exempt/Full-Time
Grade:6

SUMMARY
Under supervision, performs a variety of support services with a focus on assisting with children’s programs. The primary duties include providing supervised-structured activities to children while mothers are with other staff member. May also perform duties involving administrative support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Provide life skills training one-on one and in small groups to children of all ages while EC clients are with other staff members.
 Plan and facilitates educational groups for children.
 Schedules and coordinates weekly with clinical team those activities related to children (during Wednesday meeting of the Clinical team).
 Complete intake with children and mother and maintain children’s files. Completes and submits activity logs and other documentation as appropriate; maintains comprehensive children files.
 Plan activities and work close with clinical team to develop new curriculum for children’s groups and develop materials needed for children’s activities.
 Set up for groups
 Keep the children’s area organized
 Write progress notes and keep activity log.
 Assist the team in their overall work with children.
 Assist with data entry.
 Train and supervise volunteers and work-studies that participate in educational groups or provide life skills to one-on one to multi age children.
 Assist with phone back up of EC’s phone line, walk-ins and primer contactos.
 Plan and maintain inventory of snacks, food and educational supplies necessary for children’s groups.
 Participate in agency planning and organizational development;
 Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 Must demonstrate a commitment to social justice issues, such as immigrants’ rights and the prevention of domestic violence.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree, preferred in early childhood development or education. Required one-year experience working with children. Preferred experience working with children in trauma setting. Required bilingual (Spanish/English).
EMPLOYMENT SCREENING AND COMPLIANCE
 Individual will be subject to a CYFD background check.
 Employee must comply with all operational policies, especially those involving the safety of fellow workers, volunteers, and clients/customers.
 Employee must maintain a current and valid driver’s license to perform work duties if position requires activities that require travel by motor vehicle.
 Employee must have and maintain a clean driving record.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORK CONDITIONS
 Most essential duties are performed in an office environment with exposure to a variety of business equipment and other pertinent materials normally found in this type of work setting.
 Work is normally performed in an area permitting partial-to-total privacy.
 May require travel to other locations throughout the city, state, and country.
