The mission of Community Against Violence, Inc. (CAV) is to foster and support communities free from all forms of domestic and sexual violence. CAV is the only non-profit agency in Taos County exclusively addressing the needs of victims of domestic/sexual violence.

CAV’s roots date back to 1978. That year several domestic violence disputes resulted in deaths and the County saw an increase in reported rapes. Two different groups of local woman began volunteer-run crisis phone lines and offered emergency shelter and crisis intervention out of their homes. The Battered Women’s Project and Community Against Rape each incorporated as a non-profit and formed Boards of Directors functioning independently until 1992 when they banded together and formed what was then called the Community Against Sexual and Domestic Violence.

24-hour crisis intervention – providing emotional support, safety planning, advocacy and information for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Shelter:
Emergency shelter for women and their children. Short and long-term transitional housing. Individual adult and child counseling and support groups. Assistance to move into independent living.

Advocacy:
Assistance obtaining orders of protection. Advocacy and support with criminal cases involving domestic violence or sexual assault. Accompaniment to hospital, urgent care or doctor’s office. Assistance accessing services for financial support.

Advocacy

We help victims with orders of protection and make referrals to legal aids and other agencies that will help them with the legal issues.

Individual Therapy

Designed for Children, Victims and Perpetrators, individual therapy sessions help the person explore the choices they have made and are given options and insight to new choices that will take them to live violence-free lives.

Group Therapy

In group therapy people learn from each other through sharing experiences, and are guided by a facilitator to understand the importance of identifying patterns of behaviors that they themselves or their partners can exhibit so that they can make good choices in time that will start creating a violence-free environment for their family.

Emergency Shelter

The emergency Shelter is available 24 hr a day 7 days a week. It is designated for victims in dangerous situations. It is a place where they are provided with free food, shelter and education about making the correct choices to start the path for a better future.

All our services are bilingual.

All our services are free with the exception of court mandated therapy.

Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC) provides advocacy, counseling and legal services to victims of domestic violence and their dependent children in Bernalillo County.

In 2009, DVRC served 3,150 adult victims of domestic violence, along with their dependent children, with advocacy, therapy and legal Services.

The Victim Assistance Unit works with the Albuquerque Police Department and the Bernalillo County Sheriffs Department to offer services 24 hours a day for victims of domestic violence, elder abuse and sexual assault.

All of our services are safe, confidential, culturally-sensitive and free.

Enlace Comunitario is a social justice organization led by Latina immigrants in Central New Mexico.  Our mission is to work to eliminate domestic violence in the Latino immigrant community and to promote healthy families through: comprehensive domestic violence intervention services in Spanish, preventative community education, policy advocacy and leadership development.

We are a non-profit community based organization that provides direct services to Spanish-speaking victims of domestic violence and advocates for the rights of Latino immigrants and their children. · Haven House is the domestic violence services provider and emergency shelter serving all of Sandoval County, and located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico

· Haven House is a five-bedroom shelter that can provide housing for approximately 20 women and children

· Haven House provides an array of services to victims of domestic violence including 24/7 crisis intervention, legal advocacy, case management, community and shelter support groups, individual counseling for victims and child-witnesses, life skill programs for victims and their children, and community education and training

· Haven House conducts a 52-week Batterer’s Intervention Program for perpetrators of domestic violence that holds abusers accountable for their acts of violence and abuse

Ya’at’eeh’…Greetings! We are a domestic violence and sexual assault shelter located on the Navajo Reservation in Shiprock, New Mexico. We have served the entire Navajo reservation, which covers approximately 26,000 square miles for 32 years. The program also serves all of the Four Corners area, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah.

The Home for Women and Children is committed to providing shelter, advocacy, mentoring, and education for families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault through a comprehensive family wellness center, community awareness and involvement, and to identify resources to enhance growth and development. Home for Women and Children is committed to provide these services utilizing traditional Dine’ teachings of K’e and Ho’zho (kinship and harmony).

This program provides domestic violence counseling, outreach, advocacy, and case management services in the outlying rural areas of Dona Ana County. The satellite office is located in Anthony, but the staff is available to travel to Hatch, Sunland Park, Chaparral, and the outlying rural areas in the county in order to meet the needs of those communities.

Since its founding in 1978, Option, Inc. has worked tirelessly towards its mission by providing a comprehensive menu of services for victims of domestic violence in Lea County, New Mexico.

The essential services, which include emergency shelter, crisis intervention, and advocacy, have provided the foundation from which Option has built its services. Additional services include counseling, (individual and group), transitional housing, food, clothing, transportation, assistance with acquiring protective orders, mediation and safehouse interviewing for child abuse victims, in addition to transitional housing services for. Provides shelter for up to 90 days, advocacy, and counseling for women and children in and out of the shelter. Additionaly, they offer client support, local transportation, assistance with filling out restraining orders, a person to accompany clients to hearings, personal necessities if needed such as: clothing, toothbrushes, shampoo, food and furniture.
