The Core Advocacy Training is the foundational training for domestic violence advocates and batterer intervention facilitators in New Mexico. It is also a fantastic training for our community partners to learn deeply about domestic violence, network with advocacy programs, and join with us in developing a trauma-informed lens that encourages our own health in addressing violence and understanding the deep impact on those we serve.
The core values of this training are victim-centered advocacy, trauma informed services, and trauma stewardship.
The Core Training is a total of 40 hours, and is comprised of two parts:
- A 24-hour, self-paced and immediately accessible online training that covers a wide range of skills and knowledge central to advocacy, which is located at etraining.nmcadv.org, and
- A 16-hour, highly reflective in-person training that focuses on the “being” of your advocacy.
After registering , you can immediately access the online training at etraining.nmcadv.org (directions provided in follow up email).
Upon completion of both portions of the training, you will receive a certificate of completion.
There will be 6 in-person sessions held between September 2016 – June 2017.
