DV Programs and the Courts Roundtable: Learning About and Building a Relationship with the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), the Judicial Education Center (JEC), and the Children’s Law Center (CLC)
Domestic violence service providers hear a lot about the courts through the people they serve and their court advocates. Come learn about the role of the Administrative Office of the Courts from Jenna Yanez, AOC domestic violence point of contact staff attorney. Jenna will also share information about her specific role as a liaison among the courts and with other community stakeholders. Additionally, UNM School of Law staff members, Beth Gillia, Director of the Corrine Wolfe Children’s Law Center, and Laura Bassein, Senior Attorney with the Judicial Education Center, will speak briefly about the roles of these two centers with respect to training of court personnel.
The focus of this roundtable will be an opportunity for you all to discuss systemic or procedural court issues, and to share with Jenna experiences about what works well within the courts and what could use improvement. To the extent you have training ideas for judicial officers and other court personnel, Jenna, Beth and Laura will all be interested to learn about those ideas. This roundtable is the first in a series of conversations we hope to have among DV service providers and the courts. Please take advantage of this unique opportunity to speak with the AOC and with entities outside the court system that provide training for court personnel.
