Vision

We envision a New Mexico where every survivor of intimate partner violence is safe, affirmed, and surrounded by a network that honors their autonomy, resilience, and lived expertise. In this vision, safety is not a privilege—it is a right, upheld by responsive systems and survivor-defined services that are trauma-informed, culturally rooted, and accessible to all.

People who cause harm are held meaningfully accountable through transformative practices that prioritize survivor safety and healing while challenging the conditions that allow violence to persist. Accountability is not punitive—it is change-focused, rooted in community responsibility, and guided by standards that center both justice and compassion.

Together, we are building a statewide movement that is led by survivor voices, shaped by intersectional equity, and powered by bold collaboration across disciplines, communities, and systems.

Values

  • At the heart of our work is a commitment to being a mechanism of change—one that infuses joy, cultivates change agents, and fosters a positive, strength-based environment within the movement to end intimate partner violence. Guided by deep empathy, we believe that how we do our work matters as much as what we do. Our mission is to support healing, safety, and justice by anchoring our efforts in honor and integrity, professionalism and accountability, collective wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to safety for all.

At NMCADV, we hold fast to the core values that guide our work, even in the face of adversity or external pressure. We are steadfast in our belief that safety, accountability, and justice are non-negotiable. We do not bend our standards to accommodate those who wish to dilute, distract, or cause harm. Instead, we lead with unwavering commitment—knowing we are trusted, caring professionals looked to across New Mexico for principled leadership in the movement to end intimate partner violence.
